KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Dr. Vincenzo Busico
University of Naples (Italy)

Vincenzo Busico is Full Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Federico II University of Naples (Italy). His general interests lie in Polyolefin Science and Technology; in that field, he served as the Scientific Chair for the Dutch Polymer Institute (Eindhoven, Netherlands) from 2004 until 2019. More specifically, Vincenzo is a long-standing expert of olefin polymerization catalysis, polyolefin microstructure, and High Throughput Experimentation integrated with AI tools and methods. He is currently head of the Laboratory of Stereoselective Polymerization and of the Center of Selective Catalysis of the Federico II University.


Dr. Andreas Albrecht
Borealis Group (Austria)

Dr. Andreas Albrecht studied polymer chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig and Darmstadt. He received his PhD from Technical University of Darmstadt in 2009 on the characterisation of polyolefins and polyolefin copolymer with HT-HPLC and HT-HPLC-FTIR. He joined Borealis Polyolefine GmbH (Linz, Austria) 2009 and he is actually working in the Advanced Analytical Laboratories as an Expert in the area of fractionation and extraction. His main research interests are in the characterisation of the microstructure of polyolefins and polyolefin based recyclates using crystallization based techniques like CRYSTEX, CEF, TREF in combination with spectroscopic techniques and method for molar mass separation. He was a big experience in the application and use of hyphenated fractionation techniques like GPC-FTIR, a-TREF-GPC and its combination to obtain more in-depth knowledge about the polymeric structure of polyolefins and compounds containing polyolefins.


Prof. Siripon Anantawaraskul 
Kasetsart University (Thaildand)

Siripon Anantawaraskul is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, where he also serves as the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Engineering. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kasetsart University in 1997, and his master's and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. Dr. Anantawaraskul’s research focuses on polyolefin characterization, polymer reaction engineering, and the application of computational modeling in polymerization processes and polymer characterization.


Prof. Robert Bruell
Fraunhofer Institute (Germany)

Richard Feynman Chair at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, 2024 - Research interest: polymer science, polymer analytics, durability of polymers, and lifetime prediction of polymeric materials. Contributed to more than 200 technical and scientific publications, patents, book chapters, and conference contributions. He has over 25 years of experience in plastics analysis research. His functional expertise includes analytical research, sales, and marketing. His employment history is as follows: Fraunhofer LBF, Manager, Department of Material Analysis and Characterization, 2022 - Fraunhofer LBF, Darmstadt, Germany, 2012 - 2021 Head of Material Analytics Group Responsible for polymer and additive analysis. German Plastics Institute, Darmstadt, Germany, 2001 - 2012, Vice Head of Polymer Analysis Development of polyolefin analysis techniques. Dr. Carlos Dominguez
Rey Juan Carlos University

Carlos Domínguez is Bachelor of Science (Physics) and PhD at the Rey Juan Carlos University, being also Master in High International Studies; Quality and Environmental Management and Advanced Specialization in Plastics and Rubber. Since 2004 he works at the Rey Juan Carlos University, Department of Chemical and Environmental Technology, being the Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) Manager. LATEP (www.latep.es) is a laboratory for the physico-chemical characterization of polymers and the study of their relationship with the molecular structure of the material. The LATEP brings service and support to the research, development and innovation activities of companies and research centers around the world. During the last years Carlos Domínguez has participated in different research projects in polymer science, being specialized in polyolefins characterization, failure mechanisms in polyethylene for pipe applications and polymer recycling and Circular Economy on plastics. Carlos Domínguez is co-author of more than 70 works between publications in high-impact scientific journals and international conferences presentation.


Dr. Bin Du
PetroChina Shanghai Advanced Materials Research Institute (China)

Bin Du is a seasoned expert in polyolefin characterization, bringing over 20 years of industrial R&D experience. He joined PetroChina Petrochemical Research Institute in 2012, where he currently holds the position of research group leader, leading comprehensive polyolefin characterization efforts to support new catalyst design, polymer resin development, and product innovation. He focuses his expertise on polyolefin characterization, specifically advanced microstructure analytics using TREF, HT-TGIC, GPC, and cross-fractionation—all consistently applied across his research and industrial practice.


Dr. Shinichi Kitade
Japan PolyChem (Japan)

Currently a Senior Research Scientist R?D in the Division Japan Polychem Corporation. In 1997 he obtained a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University. From 1997-2001 he was at the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation. Since 2001-present has been working in the Research and Development Department of Japan Polychem Corporation. Research interests: Polymer physics and Rheology.


Dr. Jephrey Pan
Dow (USA)

Dr. Pan is the TS&D (technical service & development) Fellow in Dow. He joined the Polyolefin industry in 2006 after getting Master degree of Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, as a TS&D engineer of Dow Polyolefin and Elastomer Business. Till today, new application and product development for flexible packaging is still his main focusing area. As one of inventors of Dow BOPE (biaxially oriented polyethylene film) technology, he is also heavily involved in downstream application development of BOPE film. Beyond BOPE and flexible packaging, he also has abundant experience on industrial film applications. He has filed 41 patent applications including 19 US granted patents.

Dr. ShiXuan Xin
PetroChina Shanghai Advanced Materials Research Institute (China)

Professor Doctor Shixuan Xin received his Ph. D. degree from McGill University in 1995 and performed postdoctoral research in the University of Waterloo. In 1998, he moved to Bayer AG’s Science and Technology Research Centre as a research scientist. In 2001, he joined Mitsubishi Chemical Science and Technology Research Centre (MCRC) as senior scientist. Dr. Xin joined PetroChina Petrochemical Research Institute as deputy chief engineer and Senior Fellow Scientist. Dr. Xin focused his research interests in the fields of olefin polymerization catalysis, high performance polyolefin materials, energy conversion and storage materials, materials from sustainable resources, and small molecules catalytic activation/conversion. He has contributed significantly in creating novel metallocene catalysts for olefin specific polymerization, olefin/polar monomer copolymerization, high performance value-added polyolefin materials, and engineering plastic composite materials. Dr. Xin has more than 50 scientific publications, over 40 patents, and delivered near 110 lectures in national and international stages. Dr. Xin is currently Distinguished Professor of Northeast Petroleum University; Guest Professor of Qingdao University and Lanzhou University; Vice Chairman of the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Committee, China Industrial Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Association (CIECCPA-CCUS) since 2023.


Dr. Zengrong Zhang
NOVA Chemicals Coroporation (Canada)

Zengrong Zhang is a Senior Scientist at NOVA Chemicals Corporation in Canada. He received a Ph. D. degree in Analytical Chemistry in 1994 at Hunan University in China. With his post-doctoral experiences in organic electrochemistry and polymer synthesis at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel and at University of Calgary in Canada, he joined NOVA Chemicals Corporation in 2001. His research interests focus on polyolefin characterization, particularly in polyolefin fractionation and long chain branching analysis.
